Welcome to Our FREE Period Education Workshop!

Our workshop is designed to educate and empower youth about menstruation and related conditions like endometriosis. Menstruation is a natural and normal process, yet it is often stigmatized and not openly discussed. Our interactive and engaging workshop aims to demystify menstruation and promote menstrual health awareness. Endo Warriors Aotearoa (EWA) believe that we can shorten the average 9-year wait for diagnosing Endometriosis if we start to take teenage period pain & signs and symptoms more seriously.

Workshop Details:

The workshop lasts an hour and 30 minutes, but we can adjust the duration to fit your schedule. You can book unlimited workshops for your school or organisation throughout the year.

Topics Covered:

In our workshop, we explain menstruation and its basics, including typical duration, blood loss, and cycle frequency. We also discuss the signs of the first period and the hormonal changes that cause menstruation, focusing on the roles of estrogen and progesterone and the menstrual cycle phases.

We provide detailed information about various period products, their pros and cons, and how to use and dispose of tampons and pads. Caring for reusable period underwear is also covered. Vaginal health is an important topic, where we distinguish between normal and abnormal discharge and stress the importance of understanding vaginal health.

We educate participants on the meaning of different periods of blood colour, how to identify and manage heavy periods, and when to seek medical advice. We also discuss common conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, and fibroids, their symptoms, and the importance of medical consultation.

Managing PMS is another key topic, where we share strategies for dealing with common symptoms. We also offer natural tips for managing menstrual symptoms, such as staying hydrated, maintaining a balanced diet, using heat therapy, and incorporating gentle exercise. It is also vital to encourage everyday conversations about menstruation. We emphasise the importance of normalising period talk and supporting each other.

Interactive Activities:

To engage the workshop, we include fun interactive activities like the Period Product Relay Race, Myth Busting Quiz, Menstrual Cycle Bingo, and Build A Period Kit. These activities help participants familiarise themselves with period products, dispel myths, understand the menstrual cycle stages, and prepare for their periods.

We can provide separate workshops for teachers on supporting students with periods and those with endometriosis.
