Hi, my name is Danielle and I’m a 25 year old who was diagnosed with endometriosis last year (2024) aged 24.
My journey like so many others has been a long one. I had my first period at aged 13 and right from day one I knew something within myself was wrong.
Endo was a term I knew as my mum and her mum my nana) had confirmed diagnosis’s of endometriosis so I knew the term but never believed I would be diagnosed.
Between symptoms, Drs who didn’t believe me and feeling like maybe I was crazy the 11 years of putting up with what I had made myself believe was a bad period. I have been able to find some comfort in the fact that I am not alone there are sooooo many others on the same journey.
I had my diagnostic laparoscopy July last year after advocating for myself and support from my mum, dad and partner. I finally got the answers I needed. Waking up in recovery and my first question being “did you find anything???”
I am sharing my story because I refuse to be a number or a statistic of endo. I have a face, a name and a life outside this cruel condition.
So despite the pain and the symptoms I choose to use my story to help others like me and to support those around me who may need support through their Endo journey.
