My journey and struggles with endometriosis

By Kaitlin

My name is Kaitlin, I’ve struggled with endometriosis since I was 13 years old, and it took a decent chunk of my teen years. I had the laparoscopy surgery early 2020, and I was a lot better, but sadly in 2023, due to mishandling of my birth control being changed back and forth, it came back 10 times worse with possible lesions on my ovaries. I’m booked for another surgery in April.

The struggles of endo don’t just affect me monthly — it affects my everyday life: from cramps, dizziness, fainting spells, anemia, chronic fatigue, vomiting, and mental health problems. It’s a never-ending list. It’s a struggle, and I sometimes feel like a burden on friends and family when I cancel plans, am constantly in pain, and always have something wrong — but I am thankful for reassuring friends and family and a supportive workplace.

I still try to enjoy life with my friends and activities, and I’m a fangirl and often do hobbies such as video games, reading, etc. But I am determined to not let endometriosis pull me back any more than it already has. I have not felt alone reading the stories, and it is reassuring.
