About the event

The first workshop will run from 10:30 to 11:30, and then some light refreshments will be offered. At 12, the Pelvic pain workshop with Liz Childs | Pelvic Health Physiotherapy will start.

We are holding two talks on Saturday, August 24. Our first one is about navigating pain, where we will explore the intricate role of pain in our lives, focusing on the need for protection. we will look into the differences between acute and chronic pain through the lens of "the io topu tairongo." Gain insights into the chronic pain cycle, or "te awhe mamae whakatino," and learn the significance of understanding pacing, its utilisation, and its importance with "te whakamārama i te whakatikatika me te whakamahi i te tāhuhu, ā, he aha te whai take. We will have an open conversation about pain and help each other with our own tips, etc. Learning objectives: · The role of pain - the need for protection & the difference between acute and chronic pain (te io topu tairongo) · Chronic pain cycle (te awhe mamae whakatino) · Understanding pacing, its utilization, and its importance (te whakamārama i te whakatikatika me te whakamahi i te tāhuhu, ā, he aha te whai take)

Workshop 1 will be facilitated by EWA charity director Yessenia Sandoval.

Thank you to WCC grant C H Izard Bequest for making these free workshops possible.
