Our programmes build body literacy, confidence and self-advocacy through inclusive, evidence-informed conversations about periods, pain, endometriosis and menstrual health.
Periods, Pain & Real Talk
Free sessions for schools, kura, youth groups and community spaces
Clear, age-appropriate education about periods, pain, products, endometriosis, PMS, PMDD and when to ask for help.
We cover a range of topics, including
- How the menstrual cycle works
- Different period products and how to use them
- What common symptoms can look like
- Why endometriosis is not a “bad period” or only a menstrual issue
- Body literacy, self-advocacy and supporting others
- Where to find trusted help and information
Whole-body understanding
Young people deserve education that takes pain seriously, includes diverse experiences and gives them language for asking for help.
Current delivery is focused on Wellington and surrounding areas, with a goal of reaching more communities across Aotearoa.

Sessions can be shaped for student age, learning context and the needs of the school or community.

Understanding symptoms, barriers to attendance and practical ways to support learners.

EWA provides education and practical guidance for employers, teams, tertiary providers and organisations. Sessions can help people understand endometriosis and menstrual health, challenge stigma and consider supportive workplace practices.

Are workshops free?
Periods, Pain & Real Talk sessions for eligible schools, kura, youth groups and community spaces are offered free where current funding allows. Other tailored or workplace sessions may involve a fee or partnership arrangement.
Can EWA deliver outside Wellington?
Current in-person delivery is focused on Wellington and surrounding areas. Contact EWA about future dates, travel support or online options elsewhere in Aotearoa.
Can the content be tailored?
Yes. Tell us about the audience, setting, age range, learning needs and what you would like participants to understand.
Is the education inclusive?
Yes. Sessions avoid assuming that everyone who menstruates is a girl or woman and make space for trans, non-binary and intersex experiences.
